Russia has decided to create a new "Dnipro River Flotilla" to hinder Ukrainian operations such as establishing a bridgehead in Krynky on the left bank of the Kherson region. However, the enemy ships will be vulnerable to surface drones, which the Defense Forces have already successfully used in the Black Sea.
This was stated by British intelligence. Its report was published on March 27 on the X platform (formerly Twitter) account of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The Minister of Defense of the aggressor country, Russia, Sergei Shoigu, announced plans to form a "Dnipro River Flotilla" and a boat brigade on March 20, 2024. Most likely, the new unit will be responsible for combat operations on the Dnipro waterways and the islands of the Kherson region.
The enemy "flotilla" is likely to be subordinated to the Dnipro military group. The occupiers formed the latter after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The aggressor, according to the British military, wants to prevent and obstruct Ukrainian operations across the Dnipro River, such as the creation and maintenance of a bridgehead in Krynky.
"Russian and Ukrainian forces lost a large number of personnel and equipment during the attacks on Krynky," the intelligence report says.
The new enemy formation will be engaged in river patrols, while the enemy's Black Sea Fleet will operate further out in the eastern part of the Black Sea.
"The Dnipro military flotilla is likely to be vulnerable to Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles, which effectively destroy Russian ships operating in the Black Sea," the British Defense Ministry said.
