Blinken on attacks on Ukrainian ports: Russia uses food as a weapon to make hungry people pay

Blinken condemned Putin's attacks on the Danube port infrastructure

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has accused Russia of strikes on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure on the Danube River, from where Ukrainian grain is exported. Moscow, the US senior official believes, has resorted to its usual terror tactics and is turning food into weapons.

According to the Kremlin's plan, people from countries on the verge of starvation will pay for Russian aggression and the desire to occupy Ukrainian lands. Blinken wrote this on his X account, formerly known as Twitter.

"Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine's vital Danube ports, systematically destroying civilian infrastructure to keep Ukrainian grain from feeding the world. This is Russia's 'methodology'. It opts for strangling Ukrainian grain exports, using food as a weapon and making hungry people pay the price," the US Secretary of State said confidently.

Russian troops attacked the Odesa region with drones on the night of September 8. The occupiers launched 20 kamikaze attack drones, 16 of which were shot down by the defenders of the Ukrainian sky.

This attack was the fifth attempt to strike the Odesa region in the last week. Before that, the invaders attacked the region with Iranian kamikaze drones on the night of September 7.

The invaders' targets in these attacks were the port and grain infrastructure of the Odesa region.

Russian Shahed drones fell and detonated on Romanian territory during a strike on the night of September 4. The Romanian authorities denied this fact at first, but finally recognized it two days after the information about the incident appeared online. Romania also said that it would strengthen security measures in the areas bordering Ukraine.
