Black Sea Fleet "changed its residence": Russia admits it is afraid of Ukrainian drones

Russia has admitted that it is afraid of Ukraine's strikes on Crimea. The introduction of new weapon systems, including naval drones, into the Ukrainian defense forces and their successful use has forced Russia to rescue the remnants of the Black Sea Fleet.

It was because of the effective defeats that the Russian Black Sea Fleet was forced to "change its residence": almost all large ships were withdrawn from Crimea. This was stated by the former head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, who has now found a warm place as a senator "from Zaporizhzhia region" in an interview with the propaganda publication Moskovsky Komsomolets.

Rogozin de facto admitted that the Russian Black Sea Fleet was forced to flee the annexed Ukrainian peninsula because of the threat of complete destruction.

"If we go back to the weapons systems and the changes in the methods of combat use during the war, the Black Sea Fleet is a good example. It was forced to change, in fact, its residence because our large ships became large targets for the enemy's unmanned boats," he said.

Rogozin did not specify where exactly the occupiers' wrecks were "registered". However, a year ago, in October 2023, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Russia had withdrawn most of the Black Sea Fleet from the port in occupied Sevastopol and moved "large ships, including three attack submarines and two frigates," to other ports in Russia and Crimea "that provide better protection."

In particular, the Russians decided that they could "provide better protection" for most of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the port of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation.

However, the Kremlin preferred not to comment on this "redeployment," sending journalists with these questions to the Russian Defense Ministry.

As a reminder, in September, satellite photos appeared on the Internet showing that the Russians had hidden their fleet in Novorossiysk among civilian courts: the occupiers use them as a cover.
