Before and after the attack of the Russian army: a hotel and a cafe in the center of Kharkiv are shown online
Russian troops attacked Kharkiv in the evening of December 30 and at night of December 31, destroying buildings in the city center, including a well-known hotel and a new cafe. Photos and videos of what civilian objects looked like before the attack by the Russian "liberators" are available online.
In the evening of December 30, an enemy rocket attack hit Kharkiv Palace, a five-star hotel on Independence Avenue. A missile hit the multi-story building (preliminary, at the level of the 12th floor). The damage to the hotel was confirmed by the head of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, Oleksandr Filchakov.
The hotel offered more than 17 rooms and apartments. At the time of the attack, Kharkiv Palace was only partially occupied.
In total, 28 civilians were injured in Saturday's missile attacks on Kharkiv (as of the morning of December 31). The enemy used Iskander M and S-300 systems.
A few hours after the rocket attack, the Russian army launched Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones at Kharkiv. There were four hits on civilian objects (houses, offices, and cafes), Mayor Igor Terekhov said.
Among the damaged buildings was the Franyk cafe and bakery. This establishment opened on the main square of the city only in the summer of 2023.
The destruction of the cafe was confirmed by its owners on its Instagram page. They assured us that their plans for the new year of 2024 are to rebuild the place. "Know that they can break the walls, but our spirit will never be broken," the post reads.
As OBOZ.UA previously wrote, users of the network were inspired by a photo of a coffee shop in the center of Kharkiv, which did not stop working after a Russian missile strike. The windows in the building were smashed, but the indomitable workers continued to receive visitors.
