Became a "key" to breakthrough: media revealed details of successful use of cluster munitions in Zaporizhzhia

Media discloses details of successful use of cluster munitions in Zaporizhzhia

The cluster artillery munitions supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the United States have been successfully used in many parts of the frontline for several months. These weapons help Ukrainian defenders "smoke out" Russian invaders from their fortified defensive positions.

The military command of the Russian aggressor country is concerned about the use of cluster munitions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as the Russian army's losses in manpower have increased even more. This is reported by the Spy Dossier Telegram channel.

Ukrainian troops have been successfully using cluster munitions in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk directions. In addition, American "cassettes" cannot be compared in terms of tactical and technical characteristics with similar Soviet-style weapons used by the Russian occupiers.

The peculiarity of American cluster munitions is the high coefficient of submunition bursting. The share of unexploded submunitions in U.S. cluster munitions is up to 2%, while up to 40% of submunitions in Soviet cluster munitions remain unexploded.

Because of this, Soviet cluster munitions often create a chaotic minefield at the site of impact. Therefore, this factor does not allow the party using such shells to actively advance.

However, American cluster munitions have become a kind of "key" to the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces through the fortified positions of the occupiers in the Zaporizhzhia direction. The defenders there faced the problem of excessive "entrenchment" of the Russian invaders' positions. Therefore, cluster munitions helped the Ukrainian Armed Forces "smoke out" the occupiers from their fortified defensive positions.

On September 21, the United States announced a new aid package for Ukraine. Ukrainian military personnel will receive another batch of cluster artillery ammunition from their American partners.

The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering various options for strengthening military assistance to Ukraine. In particular, the White House is discussing the possibility of transferring cluster munitions for multiple-launch rocket systems to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
