Attacks near Bakhmut and Maryinka repelled, enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain positions near Avdiivka - General Staff

Over the last day, 24 combat engagements took place in Ukraine. Ukrainian defense forces repelled occupants' attacks near Bakhmut and Maryinka in Donetsk region, while the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain positions near Avdiivka. In the Melitopol sector, Ukrainian defenders continue their offensive.

This is stated in the operational summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, released in the evening of September 24, on the 578th day of the large-scale Russian invasion. As noted, the aggressor continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, shelling military and civilian targets.

In particular, Russian troops conducted one missile and 44 air strikes, fired 52 MLRS attacks at the positions of our troops and populated areas, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy launched air strikes near Cherneshchyna, Kharkiv region, and Novoyehorivka, Luhansk region. More than 10 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region.

No offensive actions were conducted in the Liman sector. Air strikes were carried out near Nevske in Luhansk region and Spirne in Donetsk region. More than 10 localities suffered from artillery and mortar shelling, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Novosadove, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled attacks in the area east of Bohdanivka and southeast of Bila Hora in Donetsk region. The enemy tried to regain lost ground near Klishchiyivka, Donetsk region, but was unsuccessful. He carried out air strikes near Klishchiyivka, Andriivka, and New York in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Andriivka, Druzhba and New York in Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka sector, the occupants tried to regain their lost positions near Avdiivka, Donetsk region, but failed; they launched an air strike nearby. Avdiivka and Karlivka in the Donetsk region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Maryinka sector, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 11 enemy attacks in the area of Maryinka, Donetsk region. The enemy launched an air strike near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities were under occupants' fire, including Hostre, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Pervomaiske, and Paraskoviivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Vuhledar, Zolota Niva, Urozhayne, Staromayorske and Zelene Pole in Donetsk region. About 10 localities, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Blahodatne, Urozhayne, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian troops continue their offensive in the Melitopol sector. In particular, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled attacks near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia. The enemy launched air strikes near Verbove, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhya region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Yehorivka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Plavni in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson sector, the aggressor launched air strikes near the towns of Beryslav, Odradokamyanka, Burgunka and Olhivka in the Kherson region. About 10 localities in Kherson region came under artillery and mortar fire, including Kozatske, Olhivka, Tokarivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, and Stanislav in Kherson region.

The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissya directions remained unchanged, and no offensive groups were detected. The Army of Belarus is performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

On the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, continues to shell settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation. It conducted an air strike near the village of Stepne in Sumy region. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Moshchenka and Karpovychi in Chernihiv region; Yablunivka, Ryasne, Pohozhnia in Sumy region; and Odnorobivka, Baranivka, Vovchansk, Vilkhuvatka, Stroyivka in Kharkiv region.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that during the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 8 strikes on the areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment of the occupiers. Missile units destroyed 2 SAMs, 4 artillery pieces and 1 enemy ammunition depot.
