Artillery and Aviation: General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tells about the main advantages of the Russian army and how to counter them

Ivan Havryliuk named the main trump cards of the Russian Federation at the front

The army of the Russian occupiers uses its two main advantages in the war with Ukraine - artillery and aviation, which allows the invaders to keep up the intensity of shelling. The Kremlin expects to have enough shells to dominate the battlefield for a long time.

This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ivan Havrylyuk in an interview with Ukrinform. According to him, Russia has assessed the current production capabilities of Ukraine and its allies and is using its advantage in ammunition.

According to Havryliuk, since the beginning of 2024, the advantage in artillery fire along the front line has been 7:1 in favor of the enemy.

It is not only their factories that provide such a "shaft of fire" to the Russian occupiers. The aggressor country receives significant assistance from North Korea with weapons.

According to the general, Russia also has superior air power and dominates the skies. Enemy fighters regularly hit Ukrainian positions and frontline territories with guided aerial bombs.

"Since the beginning of this year (in 77 days), enemy aircraft have dropped more than 3,500 bombs on our positions, which is 16 times more than in 2023," Havrylyuk said.

F-16 fighter jets should change the Russian dominance in the air and increase the capabilities of the Defense Forces on the ground.

"But the situation is such that we do not have F-16s yet, and the stocks of ammunition of certain nomenclatures are falling to a critical level. These and other factors make it difficult for the Ukrainian Defense Forces to fulfill their tasks of repelling the aggressor," the general emphasized.

As a reminder, in recent months, the Ukrainian army has faced an acute shortage of artillery ammunition at the front. As a result, our soldiers have recently had to retreat from Avdiivka and lost several other settlements in Donetsk region.

In February, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Prague had found 800,000 pieces of artillery ammunition abroad that it could transfer to Ukraine. It was about half a million 155-mm shells and another 300,000 122-mm shells.

And in early March, Petr Pavel said that Ukraine's partners had raised the entire amount needed to purchase 800,000 artillery shells. The shells to counter the aggressor country will be purchased outside the European Union.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Czech Republic purchases ammunition for Ukraine, in particular, from countries that are considered allies of Russia. For this purpose, Prague used its contacts from the Cold War.
