Ammunition for air defence, demining equipment, etc: The United States provides Ukraine with a new military aid package
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington has allocated a new batch of weapons for Ukraine. The cost of the next aid package is $200 million and includes artillery shells, ammunition for air defence systems, anti-tank weapons, etc.
The politician said this during a press conference with the American press. The White House remains a reliable and loyal ally of Kyiv until the last Russian occupier leaves Ukrainian territory.
"Today we are announcing another security assistance package designed to help Ukraine defend its territory and its people," he said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked his American counterpart Joe Biden and all citizens of the United States for the weapons and assistance that have become another signal to Russia and its occupiers.
"Missiles for air defence, ammunition for artillery, mine clearance systems, anti-tank weapons will add power to the defence forces. Another step towards a common victory!" the Ukrainian leader wrote on Twitter.
Anthony Blinken listed what the new supply package for the Ukrainian army includes:
- ammunition for air defence,
- artillery shells,
- anti-tank weapons,
- additional demining equipment.
It should be noted that the latter was strongly requested by Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, who noted that Ukraine is the most heavily mined country and that we cannot overcome this disaster without Western partners.
"We have experienced sappers and modern equipment, but they are not enough for the frontline that stretches for hundreds of kilometres in the east and south of Ukraine," he said the day before.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, last week, the Biden administration indicated that, if necessary, it was ready to appeal to Congress to allocate additional funds to help Ukraine. The scope of the White House's new request for further support for Kyiv is based on mathematical calculations.
