The evacuation of local residents continues in the north of Kharkiv region amid the advance of Russian occupation forces. On Sunday, May 12, 1600 people were evacuated from the Vovchansk direction. The enemy continues to shell the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and border settlements.

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said this in an address to the residents of the region published on Telegram. According to him, a total of 5,500 people have been evacuated from the Vovchansk area in three days.

In the video, Syniehubov stood with the head of the Chuhuiv district military administration Serhiy Lobodenko, the head of the Vovchansk city military administration Tamaz Gambarashvili, and the head of the charity organization Coordination Humanitarian Center Yevhen Kolyada.

"The enemy is shelling our positions, our border settlements. Our soldiers are holding their positions. It is difficult. However, we continue to work as a team, we continue to believe in our Armed Forces," said Synehubov.

The head of the RMA called on residents of Vovchansk and border villages not to neglect safety and evacuate to safe regions of the country. According to him, everyone who leaves receives full support - from humanitarian to legal.

Despite the enemy's plans, Syniehubov said, everyone is united and working for victory - the authorities, law enforcement, emergency services, volunteers, and international partners. He assured that the regional authorities are in touch with the military command around the clock.

As a reminder, the shelling by Russian troops of Vovchansk and a number of other territories in the north of Kharkiv region intensified sharply on May 10. On the same day, the occupiers launched an offensive in an attempt to gain a foothold in the border settlements.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, as of 18:00 on May 12, all the streets of Vovchansk in Kharkiv region are under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. However, the city is under constant Russian shelling.
