On the night of Monday, December 11, the Ukrainian air force shot down all 18 enemy Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones that Russia was trying to use to attack the south. And in the morning, they neutralized all eight ballistic missiles flying toward Kyiv.
The details of the repulsion of the attack were reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the military, the occupiers launched the Shahideen from Cape Chauda and Belbek in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
"A total of 18 attack UAVs were launched. All enemy drones were destroyed by air defense in the area of responsibility of the South Air Command," the statement said.
In particular, most drones were shot down in Mykolaiv region - 13, three in Kherson and two in Odesa. Anti-aircraft missile units and mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully practiced against enemy air targets.
The wreckage of the downed drones damaged the warehouses of agricultural enterprises and agricultural machinery in Kutsurubska and Snihurivska communities, and private houses in Ochakivska community. The fires were quickly extinguished by firefighters. There were no reports of casualties, the Southern Defense Forces said.
Around 04:00 am on December 11, Russian occupants fired eight ballistic missiles at Kyiv region from the north, preliminarily from the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.
"All eight targets were destroyed by anti-aircraft missile units of the Center Air Command. Let's hold the sky! Together - to victory!" the Air Force added.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on the morning of December 8, air defense forces destroyed 14 out of 19 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles in Dnipro and Kyiv regions. Then the enemy attacked in two waves, and there was a hit in Pavlohrad, killing one person and injuring eight.
