"Advance is going on, it is reported in a dosed manner": Gumenyuk spoke about the situation in the south after the AFU broke through the enemy's defense line
The Ukrainian armed forces have managed to build on their successes after breaking through the occupants' first line of defense in some parts of the south. But information about the advance is being provided to civilian Ukrainians in a metered manner in order to preserve the lives of our defenders.
This was stated by the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces Natalia Gumenyuk on the air of the telethon. She emphasized that the liberation of territories is a rather difficult job for the military.
Gumenyuk called the current counteroffensive actions of the AFU on the southern front line only the first stage, when the defense line is broken through. After that, Ukrainian units need to entrench themselves in those areas and create security for the twin forces that made that breakthrough.
"Therefore, the news here may be a bit slow," explained the OC South representative when asked whether the AFU managed to develop successes after the breakthrough of the first enemy defense line in some areas.
At the same time, she once again emphasized that one must remember: behind this is a lot of hard work of the defenders.
"Advancement is underway, but it is reported in a metered manner to save their lives," she emphasized.
According to the AFU General Staff as of the morning of August 8, the defenders continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, where they are consolidating on the achieved borders and implementing counter-battery measures.
Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskiy, commander of the Tavria operational-strategic grouping of troops, said that the previous day the Defense Forces had advanced in the Tauride direction of the front, eliminating 46 occupants and 28 units of enemy equipment.
While the hottest direction of the front is now Kupyansk - in the east of the country, where the occupants are trying to regain the positions lost in the fall of last year.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar summarized the results of the counteroffensive of the AFU for the past week, noting that in the south the defenders won tactical successes near Robotine. According to her, in the east, the enemy fired about 500 thousand rounds of ammunition at the Ukrainian troops and tried to attack in Donetschyna, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.
