Abrams tanks arrived in Germany to train Ukrainian military: details revealed
Three dozen American M1A1 Abrams battle tanks, which will be used by the Ukrainian military, have arrived in Germany. The equipment was delivered to the country slightly ahead of schedule.
It is expected that the exercises will begin at the German military base Grafenver in two to three weeks. This is reported by Sky News, citing reports of U.S. representatives.
In particular, the head of the U.S. Department of Defense, Lloyd Austin, told the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense that Washington has already moved "several tanks to the theater of operations" so that the Ukrainians can learn to operate them.
According to him, the Abrams will be ready for the Ukrainian Defense Forces by the end of the exercise, which is tentatively expected to last about 10 weeks.
A U.S. official said in a media commentary that it was about 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks needed for training. These vehicles arrived in the port of Bremerhaven last weekend, and they will be delivered to the training base early next week.
It is noted that the arrival of Abrams to Grafenwoehr, located in German Bavaria, is several weeks ahead of the schedule outlined during the meeting of military leaders in Germany in April 2023, where the needs of Ukraine to repel the Russian aggression were discussed.
The M1A1 Abram tanks that Washington is providing to Kyiv are being manufactured to our military's specifications. They are expected to arrive in Ukraine early this fall as soon as the servicemen finish their training abroad.
