A series of explosions reported in Kharkiv during Russian massive missile attack: fires broke out, there is damage to infrastructure and casualties

On the morning of December 25, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. Kharkiv came under fire: at least seven enemy missiles hit the regional center.

The city reported destruction, fires, and at least four injured civilians. The consequences of the attack on the regional center were described by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, and the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov.

The mayor reported the explosions in Kharkiv at 06:03. According to the RMA, not only Kharkiv, but also Kharkiv district came under fire.

"Kharkiv is under massive missile attack. There was a series of explosions in the city and there are still ballistic missiles in the sky. Stay in safe places," Terekhov said at 06:09.

As of 06:10, it is known that the occupants have struck Kharkiv at least seven times.

"One of the hits was recorded in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. The rescuers and officials are on their way," Syniehubov said at the time.

According to the city council, another hit was recorded in the Kyivskyi district of the city.

"There is a hit to the Kyivskyi district: a fire started and the glazing of the surrounding buildings was damaged. Further information is still being clarified," Terekhov said at 07:00.

Later it became known that several fires broke out in the regional center after the enemy strikes. Damage to civilian infrastructure was also reported. Experts began to eliminate the consequences of the attacks.

Around 7 a.m., information about the first casualties began to appear.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, as of 06:50, two men, one of them 39 years old, had sustained shrapnel wounds. Both victims were hospitalized.

Terekhov provided other data: as of 06:40, he reported three injured in the Saltivskyi district of the city, with two of them in serious condition.

Another victim was reported in Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv.

"In Nemyshliansky district, a private house was hit. One person was injured," said the mayor.

The Kharkiv regional police noted that as of 07:25 they had information about three victims in Kharkiv, two of whom were taken to hospital.

"At about six o'clock in the morning on December 25, the enemy started shelling the city. There were hits in Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts. Three men aged 39, 45 and 46 sustained shrapnel wounds, one of them received medical aid at the site, while the others were hospitalized. Residential buildings, civilian infrastructure and private cars were damaged. Fires broke out," the statement said.

As of 08:13, Syniehubov said that six people were injured in three districts of Kharkiv as a result of the shelling.

"From 06:00 to 06:29, the enemy launched massive missile attack on the city of Kharkiv. We recorded hits in the Saltivskyi, Kyivskyi and Nemyshliansky districts. At this moment there are six casualties. Several fires broke out in non-residential buildings, and rescuers continue to eliminate the consequences of enemy attacks," he wrote.

Police, rescuers, volunteers and medics are working at the impact sites.

"Investigators have opened criminal proceedings over violations of the laws and customs of war under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the regional police said.

As a reminder, on the morning of December 25, Russia launched both cruise and ballistic missiles at Ukraine. The explosions occurred in Kharkiv and Dnipro, and there were victims.
