On the night of February 26, Russian war criminals attacked the city of Kharkiv with drones. During the air raid alert, which lasted more than four hours, explosions were heard in the city.
This was reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. According to him, the enemy struck several districts of the city.
"According to preliminary information, there are hits to Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi districts," he said after midnight.
Later, Terekhov added that one of the drones hit a high-rise building. "A high-rise building was damaged after a drone attack in Kyivskyi district," he said.
There is also information about the victims of the attack on a residential building.
The State Emergency Service also reported that one of the Russian drones hit a 9-story residential building in the Kyivskyi district. A fire broke out on the second floor, covering an area of 50 square meters.
"Employees of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, medics and volunteers rescued 5 residents of the building. According to preliminary data, 2 people were injured," the statement said.
In the morning, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, provided more details on the aftermath of the night attack.
He confirmed that the hits were recorded in Kyivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
Thus, at 00:10, as a result of the debris fall on the roadway, the glazing of an apartment building, a university building, an opera house, a cafe, and pavilions were damaged. According to Syniehubov, there were no casualties.
At 00:25, the downed enemy drone hit a 9-story apartment building. A fire broke out in an apartment on the 2nd floor, partially damaging a wall and the windows.
According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, no one was in the apartment. However, three residents of the house suffered an acute stress reaction.
And 5 minutes later, at 00:30, as a result of the wreckage fall on the sidewalk, the glazing of an apartment building, a cafe building and the trolleybus network were damaged, added Syniehubov.
"A UAV hit the territory of a restaurant in Kyivskyi district. There were no casualties," the office added.
Pre-trial investigations into the commission of war crimes (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) have been launched under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi District Prosecutor's Offices of Kharkiv.
"Prosecutors and police investigators are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by the Russian military," the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office summarized.
The explosions in the city were preceded by a warning of monitoring channels that the enemy has launched drones.
As reported, on the night of February 17, Russian invaders attacked Kharkiv with drones too. As a result, three women were injured, and damage to private homes and outbuildings was recorded.
And on February 6, another Russian drone attack damaged the largest market in Ukraine, Barabashovo, destroying a number of pavilions.
