9 helicopters were destroyed and 15 damaged: OSINT analyst calculates Russian losses after ATACMS strikes on airfields
At the airfields in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk, 9 helicopters of the Russian occupiers were destroyed by US ATACMS missiles. Another 15 helicopters were damaged.
This was stated by OSINT analyst of the Oryx monitoring group Jakub Janowski on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter). The strikes on the airfields were carried out by the Defense Forces on October 17.
According to the expert, the strikes destroyed seven Ka-52 Alligator helicopters and two Mi-8 helicopters. Another 15 helicopters - eight Ka-52s and seven Mi-8s - were damaged.
"Please note that the helicopters marked as unrecoverable are currently listed as merely damaged to be on the safe side," he added.
Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that according to preliminary information, as a result of the attack on airfields in Berdiansk and Luhansk, the enemy lost 9 helicopters, ammunition load depot, special equipment and air defense equipment. They also managed to disable the runways. The invaders' losses in killed and wounded run into dozens.
Russian propagandists admitted that this attack was one of the most powerful "since the beginning of the SVO". They also stated that the losses were not only in equipment, but also in manpower.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Russian airfield in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk, the occupiers decided to protect their aviation, which has so far managed to "survive". To this end, they moved some of the helicopters.
