300 boats have been prepared for the crossing: Russia wants to launch a new offensive on Kherson, – Prokudin
Russian troops are planning a new offensive on Kherson. The occupiers are actively preparing and have already assembled 300 boats to cross the Dnipro.
This was stated in an interview with the Financial Times by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin. "Russia wants to launch another offensive here," he said.
According to Serhii Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army "South," Russian troops are trying to take control of the river islands to get closer to the western bank of Kherson. Recently, they launched a large-scale attack on Kozatskyi Island, located near Nova Kakhovka, northeast of the city.
Kherson, according to the Financial Times, is an important target for the Russian army. It was the only regional center that the Russians managed to capture during the full-scale invasion. Regaining control of the city could be a symbolic and strategic victory for Russia, especially against the backdrop of Russian troops' active advance in the Donetsk region.
As a reminder, Russian occupation forces continue active hostilities along the entire frontline. The hottest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, where the enemy made 88 attacks. In the Prydniprovsk sector, the invaders attacked Ukrainian troops' positions seven times but failed to achieve success.
For the second time in a day, Russian occupants attacked public transport in Kherson from a drone. In the afternoon of December 1, they dropped explosives on a bus in the regional center.
