The Oman national football team has refused to play a friendly match with the Russian national team this year. Instead, the representatives of the Asian Confederation preferred sparring with the main enemies of the Russian Federation and the participants of the 2022 World Cup, the Americans.

This was stated by the press attaché of the Oman Football Association, Isa Al Nubi, in a comment to the Sport24 portal. He noted that the calendar of his country's national team, which is ranked 73rd in the world rankings (below Cape Verde and Burkina Faso), has already been drawn up for this year, and besides, talk of sparring with the Russians has remained just that, talk.

"We have no proposal from the Russian Federation to organise a friendly match between Oman and Russia. This autumn the game is not possible, in September we have a friendly with the US team. Let's see what happens next year," said Isa Al Nubi.

Earlier, Bahrain refused to play a match with the Russian national team. The most titled team in Africa, Egypt, also refused to accept the offer to spar with the Russian representatives.

As a reminder, Russian clubs have been suspended from the Champions League, UEFA League and Conference League, and the national team from the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Championship and the League of Nations.
