World Champion from Russia called Russia "an engine of European progress", explaining Latvia's success at the 2023 World Cup of Hockey
Two-time world hockey champion Vladimir Yurzinov joined the attempts of representatives of the aggressor country to belittle the historic success of the Latvian team at the 2023 World Cup, where the Balts took bronze. He noted that the "Russian school" continues to have a significant influence on the entire world in the sport.
Yurzinov said this in an interview with russia-hockey.ru. He called Russian hockey "an engine of European progress" and added that representatives of the Latvian team, and in particular its coach Harijs Vitolinsh, passed through the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
"Domestic coaching school even today is one of the engines of European progress, which was shown by the World Championship. Take, for example, the Latvian bronze team. The staff was headed by Harijs Vitolins, who had been on my coaching course, which was developed by our legends Anatoly Tarasov, Arkady Chernyshev, and Viktor Tikhonov. The Russian national team needs to see this process: Germany, Latvia, Denmark, Austria, other countries are coming, the big four of Europe is becoming the big eight," said Yurzinov.
Earlier, Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov called the 2023 World Cup the championship of the yard in the absence of Russia, and also spoke insultingly about Latvia. And hockey legend Vyacheslav Fetisov considers Russians who discuss the World Cup 2023 to be criminals.
Also OBOZREVATEL reported that the world champion - 2023 became a team of Canada, which in the final match defeated another sensation of the current mundial - Germany (5:2). For the Maple Leafs, it was their 28th triumph at the World Cup. Former Russian head coach Vladimir Krikunov reacted to the victory of the North Americans with the words "they won't have long to live".
