"Why go down?" Russian football calls Asia a swamp
Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov has categorically spoken out against the transition of teams from the aggressor country from Europe to Asia. The sports official did so in a humiliating manner, insulting Russia's neighbors to the east.
Koloskov said this in a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Match TV, commenting on the exclusion of the Russian national team from the next Nations League draw. He disparagingly called the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) a swamp to which Russia should not stoop.
"Moving to Asia? Why should we go down into the swamp? Look at what's going on there," Koloskov said, without specifying what he meant. It is worth noting that after being suspended from international tournaments due to the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been playing only friendly matches, and most of them (six out of nine) are with representatives of the AFC.
Earlier, Koloskov said "people are dying" and demanded that Ukraine and Israel be "punished" for the wars. And the State Duma called the decision to expel Russia from the League of Nations cannibalistic. In his turn, the former Akron coach said that "Europe will crawl to Russia".
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, former Russian national footballer Andrei Kanchelskis expressed confidence that teams from Russia would not return to international tournaments for another 10 years.
