"Who are they?" Russian Olympics champion throws a tantrum over Ukraine's demand to disqualify Kharlan from World Cup
Four-time Olympic champion Oleksandr Tikhonov is furious over the Ukrainian Fencing Federation's call for German referee Dieter Lammer to resign after he disqualified Olga Kharlan from the World Championships under Russian pressure for refusing to shake hands with Anna Smirnova. The former biathlete found nothing better to do than to openly insult Ukrainians.
Tikhonov said this in a fit of delirium in a commentary to the propaganda news agency R-Sport. The representative of the aggressor country called the UFF's move inadequate and, with the typical Russian disdain for other nations, denied Ukrainians the right to defend their position.
"Ukrainians should be sent to the White Pillars (a psychiatric hospital in the Moscow region - ed.) They are losing the state and their face. Who are they to call on a judge to resign? Are they leaders of big sport? They are just moral freaks," Tikhonov said.
It should be noted that a video was published online showing that Lammer decided to punish Olga Kharlan for refusing to shake hands with Russian Anna Smirnova at the World Cup after a conversation with an unknown person on the phone of the fencer's coach from Russia.
The sabre fencer from the aggressor country herself does not meet the neutral status required by the IOC. Because of this, Ukraine demanded that Smirnova be banned for life, which caused hysteria in Russia. Russia also reacted angrily to the decision of the Verkhovna Rada.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the brother of fencer Anna Smirnova tried to distance himself from the crimes of the Russian army in Ukraine, calling himself an "ordinary conscript". In addition, Russian propagandists declared their country's fiasco in the scandal surrounding the fight between Smirnova and Kharlan at the World Championships.
