"We will not have men playing in women’s sports": Trump speaks out about transgender people
The 45th President of the United States delivered a speech at the Republican Party convention

US presidential candidate Donald Trump, speaking at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, said that he was against the participation of transgender people in women's competitions. The issue of banning men who have transitioned in women's sports has been one of the most hotly debated issues in American politics for many years.

"We will not have men playing women's sports, and it will stop immediately," Trump said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

In April, the Biden administration made major changes to the law, promulgating new rules aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ students and changing the way sexual harassment and assault claims are handled on campus.

What was missing from these changes, however, was a policy that would prevent schools from imposing a blanket ban on transgender athletes from participating in women's sports. Currently, at least 24 states have laws that prohibit transgender women and girls from participating in certain biological women's and girls' sports tournaments.

In July 2022, Trump said that if he wins the election, he will ask Congress to pass a law stating that there are only "two genders" that are determined by birth.

"We believe in two genders. There are men and women," the US presidential candidate said.

As reported, in 2020, for the first time in the history of professional football, a transgender athlete began playing for a women's club.
