The president of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov pretended that the head of European football (UEFA) Alexander Čeferin did not say that Russia would be able to participate in international tournaments only after the war in Ukraine ended. Despite the existence of a video recording of these words of the Slovenian, the aggressor country tried to convince the fans that this was a lie by the Western media in the best traditions of Kremlin propaganda.

Dyukov said this in an interview with the RB Sport portal. The Russian Federation President added that his organization is in constant contact with UEFA and its leaders, continuing to cooperate with the Europeans and waiting for the opportunity to return to the international arena.

Earlier, honorary president of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Koloskov was disappointed with Ceferin's statement about the return of teams from Russia to international tournaments. As a reminder, Russian clubs have been suspended from the Champions League, UEFA League and Conference League, with the national team banned from the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Championship and the League of Nations.
