Usyk-Fury fight "will never happen": training in bars and constant lies of the Brit drive fans crazy

Some fans believe that Usyk and Fury will not fight

Boxing websites continue to actively discuss the news that the announced fight for the title of absolute king of the heavyweight division between the holder of three major belts, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), will not take place on December 23. The long-awaited fight is postponed to February, and many boxing fans either do not believe that the Briton will dare to enter the ring against the Ukrainian or think that the fight will take place no earlier than the summer of 2024.

OBOZ.UA has collected the most interesting comments from various fight resources.

Fightnews readers in the comments to the news about the rescheduling of the fight accused Fury of running away from Usyk, "Fury has already started the process of slipping away. What's next, he's going to demand 99% of the money?", "Someone on another boxing site was talking about this sh** right after Ngannou's shouting... The dude is postponing because of a cut on his forehead... He'll probably leave before the fight even happens", "Too good to be true", "This fight will never happen... Gypsy 'Queen' needs more time to come up with a convincing reason not to fight Usyk".

However, there are those who believe that the fight will take place. But they are upset by Fury's behavior and openly wish him defeat, "I want the coward to be in better shape when Usyk defeats him", "Maybe he needs more time to train because he didn't perform well in his last fight."

"Fury cannot get into fighting shape in three or four months. It may take 6-12 months of rest, diet, and training to get him from being a fat, slow, poorly trained poop," an RWB user said.

"Fury has experience of postponing fights when he is in poor mental or physical condition. Yes, the cut on his face is a reason for the delay. But anyone with common sense could have realized that the fight with Usyk would not take place so soon, in December. All this was just chatter to keep the fans interested. I predict that the fight will take place no earlier than early summer 2024, after lawyers, promoters, investors and fighters have settled all the smallest details on paper. As a warning to everyone, we will be hearing Fury's arrogant statements in the media for months before this fight. God help us," user named Scooby-Doo said.

After the Briton's extremely weak fight against Ngannou, boxing fans, who previously hesitated to predict the winner of the Fury-Usyk fight, are now inclined to believe that the Ukrainian's chances of becoming an absolute champion have increased significantly although Fury still has his fighting spirit, size advantage, and incredible ability to take punches.

"The scales are more in Usyk's favor. Fury took Ngannou too lightly; you shouldn't 'play' boxing. That's what he gets. Now I'm leaning toward Usyk if they actually get in the ring. Despite all Fury's talk, I think he's seriously concerned," another fan said.

And another argued that in a fight with Usyk, the Gypsy King will follow the old pattern of hanging onto his opponents and pressuring them with his weight, "Don't worry, Fury will use his superior skills of holding Usyk down, lying on top of him and pushing him into the ropes as part of his path to victory. I've never seen a judge penalize Fury for this tactic."

But there were also opinions that a failed fight with Ngannou would wake up the Briton, "I like Usyk, he's a much better fighter than Fury. Plus, Usyk is modest, and I appreciate that. But I think there will be a unanimous decision in favor of Fury or a late knockout. This fight with Ngannou will serve as a wake-up call for him as well. I just can't really imagine Usyk overcoming this weight difference."

"If Fury really trains and prepares for the fight, he will beat Usyk. The main reason why we see him out of shape, in my opinion, is because he already has so much going for him that he feels he doesn't need it all. The Homer Simpson style of hamburgers and TV actually works very well for him, but not well enough at the highest level. His worst enemy is himself," user named Bigbrad says.

Boxingnews24 readers were also outraged by Fury's behavior, who is running away from Usyk, "Blah blah blah... Can we ever bring back boxers who just want to box anyone, anytime to prove they are the best?", "Fury is lying about December 23 again. He's garbage and I hope Usyk humiliates him IF Fury fights him", "February 2025 or 2026?", "Unfortunately, the Ngannou fight took the air out of the balloon".

"Two fights with Usyk, Usyk will win, Fury will join the rest of the losers and enjoy his wounds in oblivion, and then we can get a new generation of fighters," user named Mira says.

"Oh my God! A 12-week training camp and he looked like this against Ngannou. Just think what his stomach will look like after he retires. Ha-ha-ha-ha", "He trained in bars, restaurants and most of his training camps were held at home in the garden when he cooked a barbecue for the whole greedy family", readers ridicule Fury.

Also, some boxing fans believe that Fury and his team now want a rematch with Ngannou more than a fight for the absolute champion with Usyk.

However, if there is a fight with Oleksandr, the Briton will be better prepared, "Of course, this time Fury will train properly for Usyk. But so will Usyk. Expectations from this fight are high", "Fury had a bad night with Ngannou, but that doesn't mean he won't be ready for Usyk if he gets in shape and loses weight, but not too much, like 10-15 pounds, and is ready for the fight. For Usyk, this is still a very dangerous fight. Fury is well aware that a fight against the elusive Usyk is something he will have to take very seriously."

Apparently, the fan base of the British says that Tyson only set his sights on February because Usyk was afraid to fight him in December after some injuries in the fight with Dubois.

BoxingScene. Here, the readers disagreed a bit on whether Fury had any real reason to postpone the fight with Usyk to February 2024. Some believe that the beaten face of the Briton speaks for itself, while others say that Tyson himself insisted on the date of December 23 and got on everyone's nerves, so there can be no excuses.

"Wasn't it clear before the fight with Ngannou Fury that the fight with Usyk should take place on December 23? The clown and his excuses should be ignored, the fight should be on 12/23", "Fury will soon join AJ in the dark room", "Fury will probably announce his retirement next week", boxing fans believe.

"When this fight was 'announced', I said it was too early to get excited about it. Now it looks even more like the fight may never happen. I'm really not looking forward to Fury's next sh** on social media. He threatened to sue Usyk if the fight doesn't take place on the 23rd, and now what? He also said that Joshua had 8 weeks to prepare for the fight with him. Does he apply the same standards to himself? I don't care if he's the 'best heavyweight' of this era, I don't care if he's the best heavyweight of all time, he's just a piece of sh** as a person and seems to spend most of his fights on social media these days. Although I can't say I'm thrilled with team Usyk," FairPlay wrote.

"There is no doubt about it... The Fury-Usyk contract was never signed. They just had to say something to make a fuss in the media", "The heavyweight division is a mess", "Frankie Warren better make sure the Gypsy Queen is prepared for any fight because Ngannou exposed the Queen," boxing fans believe.

"So they didn't underestimate Ngannou and were expecting a tough fight against a strong opponent... but now they had to postpone the fight with Usyk because it unexpectedly turned out to be a tough fight against a strong opponent. I don't know which part of the lie is true when Fury or Warren talk," Toffee wrote.
