"Unfortunately..." Russia talks about the situation with returning to UEFA tournaments

The European Football Union (UEFA) is allegedly not interested in Russian teams joining Asian competitions. At the same time, representatives of the aggressor country may take such a step if they receive signals in the near future that they cannot recover quickly in international tournaments.
This was stated to the RB Sport portal by the Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov. He noted that his organisation is continuing its dialogue with UEFA, but European officials do not yet see the possibility of returning Russian teams to their tournaments.
"Unfortunately, as of today, the RFU teams are suspended from competitions held under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA. Work is underway and we expect some progress. The situation is very difficult. There is some political pressure on other federations and on UEFA. Our possible departure is just a tool to achieve a certain goal. We have a certain agreement with UEFA: if they do not see the possibility of Russia's return to competitions under their auspices in the relatively near future, we will jointly consider changing the confederation," said the RFU Secretary General.
Earlier, Mitrofanov accused UEFA of making a decision in Nyon "too quickly" to suspend teams from Russia after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, legendary Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Rinat Dasayev said "Europe is ours" and opposed Russia's withdrawal from UEFA.
