Croatian super featherweight Filip Hrgovic (16-0, 13 KOs) defeated Australian Demsey McKeon (22-1, 14 KOs) in an eliminator fight for the right to fight Alexander Usik for the IBF belt. The meeting in London ended in the 12th round.
Croatian boxer from the first rounds seized the initiative in the ring, competently attacking the body and head, regularly creating problems for McKean. Closer to the equator, the fight became one-sided. Hrgovic was noticeably superior to his opponent in speed, activity and power.
McKeon kept tying up Hrgovic's hands, for which he received a warning from the ref. In the 9th round McKeon missed a right hook that rocked him. The referee counted the knockdown, it was very difficult for the boxer from Australia to continue the fight, but he was saved by the gong.
In the 12th round, the trademark beating began, which was stopped by the referee, awarding the 31-year-old Zagreb native the victory by technical knockout.
Recall that in the main fight at the show in London, former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) knocked out Robert Helenius (32-4, 21 KOs).
