Ukrainian swordswomen refused to take part in world championship, which Russia was allowed to enter

The Ukrainian national epee team consisting of Vlada Kharkova, Joan-Faybe Bejura, Inna Brovko and Darya Varfolomeeva missed the individual tournament, which will start the World Championships in Milan, Suspilne reports. On the day of the tournament start, the names of Ukrainian epee players disappeared from the application.
Initially, the Ukrainian national fencing team planned to fully compete at the World Cup, having declared athletes for all individual and team tournaments. After the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus, the Yellow-Blue team refused to participate in four of the six individual tournaments.
A day before the start of the Mundial, the names of Ukrainian epee players appeared in the entry form for the individual tournament. Following the draw, they were allocated to the pools in which they were to begin their performances.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian epee fencers did not start at the World Championships in the individual tournament.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the International Fencing Federation, which is headed by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, became the first to allow representatives of Russia and Belarus to participate in international tournaments.
