Ukraine's footballer escapes from Shakhtar to Saudi Arabia due to "war-related experiences"– media
Shakhtar Donetsk forward Bohdan Viunnyk has refused to train with the club and wants to terminate his contract, citing his feelings about the war in Ukraine as a reason, FootBoom reports. According to media reports, the player of the Ukrainian youth national team does not respond to the calls of the Miners' management to join the team with which he has a contract.
Viunnyk did not take part in Shakhtar's five control matches and was also absent from the training camp in Turkey. The 21-year-old Kharkiv native is not on the Orange and Blacks' roster for the Europa League playoffs either.
The player, whose transfer fee is estimated at €700,000 according to Transfermarket, is allegedly trying to find a new club on his own. This season, Viunnik has scored one goal and made two assists for Shakhtar, playing 167 minutes in 6 matches.
On February 7, Viunnyk posted photos on his Instagram from Saudi Arabia, where he met with Al Nasr head coach Luis Castro, who previously led Shakhtar, at the stadium in Riyadh.
In addition, Bohdan posted a photo from his hotel room, where he shows off a T-shirt of Al Nasr leader Cristiano Ronaldo with his naked torso.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, last fall, Shakhtar Donetsk's youth team midfielder Oleksandr Rosputko disappeared after the 2nd round UEFA Youth League match against Antwerp. The 19-year-old native of Horlivka was not on the plane on which the Shakhtar players were returning to Ukraine from Belgium.
