Ukraine refuses to play after Russia U-17's return to UEFA tournaments
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) has criticized the decision of the European Football Union (UEFA) to start the procedure for the return of Russian teams to its tournaments. The organization demanded that its partners from Nyon maintain all sanctions against representatives of the aggressor country.
This is stated on the official website of the UAF. Commenting on the admission of Russians to the European Championship qualifiers, Ukraine stressed that it would not allow its national teams to play with teams from Russia, and also called for a boycott of other federations.
"The UAF insists on maintaining the previous decisions of UEFA and FIFA to prevent all Russian teams from participating in international competitions under the auspices of these organizations. The UAF confirms that it will not participate in any competitions involving Russian teams and appeals to other UEFA member associations to boycott possible matches involving teams from the Russian Federation, if they are admitted. We strongly urge UEFA to reconsider this decision and uphold the previous decision to completely exclude any teams from the Russian Federation from participating in international competitions," our association emphasized.
The English Football Association staged a riot over the admission of Russians to UEFA tournaments, refusing to play with teams from Russia.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said that Russian teams would not return to international football tournaments until the occupiers leave the territory of Ukraine.
