UEFA is divided over Russia's return: The decision may be reversed

The leadership of the European Football Union (UEFA) faced serious pressure after the return of the Russian youth national teams to their competitions. The president of the organization, Alexander Čeferin, unexpectedly put the issue to a vote without prior consultation and announced the cancellation of the complete suspension of the aggressor country's representatives from the competition.
This was reported by the authoritative publication The Independent. According to it, as early as October 10, at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, UEFA may reconsider its decision and return the complete suspension of the Russians from the tournament.

Disagreements within the organization have already led to the resignation of Vice President Carl-Erik Nilsson as head of the Swedish Sports Confederation, and Denmark joined the boycott of matches with teams from Russia.
In addition, many officials did not like the way Čeferin raised the issue of allowing Russian boys to participate in tournaments. The UEFA president unexpectedly started voting in the "other" section of the executive committee's agenda.
It should be noted that 12 out of 55 UEFA members have already confirmed the boycott of Russia, in addition to Denmark. In addition to Ukraine, these are Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Ireland and England.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, legendary German striker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, saying that Russian "children are victims of war," supported UEFA's decision to allow the Russian youth team to qualify for the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
