Ukrainians start in Euro 2024 qualifiers

The Ukrainian national team will not withdraw from the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Football Championship. Despite the order of the country's Ministry of Sport banning participation in competitions where representatives of Russia and Belarus are allowed, the Yellow and Blues will continue to fight for a ticket to the continental championship.

The president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andriy Pavelko wrote about this on his Facebook page. He published the Ministry of Sport's response to the federation's request to participate in the Euro qualifiers. Our team will stop playing in the tournament only if the Belarusians become rivals of the Ukrainians.

"Given the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of May 27, 2022 to separate Ukrainian and Belarusian football teams during the draw for international competitions under the auspices of the organisation, the structural units of the Ministry of Sport will monitor the participation of Ukrainian teams in international competitions in which Belarusian teams will also take part. In the event that facts of possible cases of face-to-face meetings between Ukrainian and Belarusian football teams are revealed, the requirements of paragraph 1 of the aforementioned order of the Ministry of Sports should be applied," the document says.

Recall that in early summer, the Blue and Yellows will play in the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Northern Macedonia ( June 16) and Malta ( June 19). In the opening game of the tournament, Ukraine lost to England in London.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the head coach of the Emirati club Al Ain Serhiy Rebrov called for not speculating on his name because of rumours about his work in the Ukrainian national team.
