Two-time Stanley Cup winner Hasek says IOC's decision will cost thousands of Ukrainian lives
Famous Czech ice hockey player Dominik Hasek commented on the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to allow representatives of Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris under a neutral flag. The two-time Stanley Cup winner expressed confidence that "this decision will cost thousands, maybe millions of lost lives of Ukrainians and Russians" on X (formerly Twitter).
"The IOC decision has given Russia incredible publicity for war and crimes, including genocide. The IOC has put human life above its own interests. Every person in the world who puts life first should condemn this," Hasek said.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Hasek criticized France for allowing Russian athletes to participate in the European Judo Championships held in Montpellier.
Dominik is known for his pro-Ukrainian stance. Earlier, he expressed his gratitude to Ukrainians for "defending not only their country but also the freedom of the world."
In addition, he admitted that he is inspired by the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who are confident in their victory over the Russian aggressors.
