"They should be disqualified!" Ukrainian figure skaters' action caused hysteria in Russia
Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova called for the disqualification of Ukrainian figure skaters Violetta Serova and Ivan Khobta. Our compatriots refused to congratulate the representatives of Georgia, Anastasia Metiolkina and Luka Berulava, during the award ceremony of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Budapest.
Metiolkina, who is a native of Volodymyr, has been playing for Georgia since 2020, while Berulava, a Muscovite, has been playing for Georgia since 2019. The pair train in Russia under Pavel Slyusarenko.
"To hell with them! You can't bring politics into sports. They should be disqualified for violating the rules of conduct at the competition, and the issue will be resolved," Tarasova threw a tantrum in an interview with TASS.
In the comments, Russian fans ridiculed Tarasova, reminding her of how sports officials and athletes have behaved in Russia.
"We said it and canceled Rammstein, wove camouflage nets for the military and went to meet the president. Double standards? No, it's only in the West," users mock.
