The main loser referees have been identified

English referee Graham Poll has been named the author of the worst refereeing decision in football history. The referee distinguished himself in the 2006 World Cup match in Germany when he showed three yellow cards to one player in the group stage match between Croatia and Australia.

This is stated in the rating compiled by the authoritative British publication FourFourTwo. Poll forgot to send off Croatian Josip Šimunić during a very emotional match, which saw the playoffs at stake. He showed the player the first yellow card in the 61st minute and the second in the 90th minute. When the English referee blew the final whistle, the player approached him and said something, for which he received a third yellow card, followed by a sending-off.

The second in the ranking is the gaffe of Zambian Janny Sikazwe, who blew the final whistle twice in the 85th and 89th minutes in the African Cup of Nations match between Mali and Tunisia. After the second stoppage of play, Tunisia's players refused to return to the field.

The top three worst referees are Ali Ben Nasser of Tunisia, who scored the legendary goal by Diego Maradona against England at the 1986 World Cup.
