Ukrainian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Igor Loss (20-4) suffered a devastating defeat in the United States. The 26-year-old from Kyiv was knocked out by New Zealander Carlos Ulberg (9-1) at the UFC tournament in Charlotte.
The bantamweight bout was initially unsuccessful for our countryman. From the first minutes, it looked like Igor entered the octagon without any tactic. During the first two minutes, he was just "dancing" in front of his opponent, making deceptive attacks.
Ullberg responded with several powerful kicks to the Ukrainian's body. Towards the end of the 2nd minute Losing threw an overhand and tried to take a take-down, but the fighter from New Zealand easily escaped the clinch, counterattacking on the back of Igor's head.
This punch shocked Sweat, he fell, and Ullberg rushed in to retrieve it. The referee immediately stopped the fight, awarding the defeat by knockout.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on January 22, Losing (20-3) got his first win in the promotion. At the UFC 283 tournament in Rio de Janeiro, the 26-year-old from Kyiv effectively defeated a local ex-champion Mauricio Rua (27-14-1).
Loss dedicated his victory to Maxim Yalovtsov, who died in the war with Russia and who was a Dynamo fan and a Ukrainian pro-grappling champion.
