The national team of Ukraine found out who will play in the playoffs for Euro 2024

Ukraine's national football team will play Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semifinal playoff match of the 2024 European Championship qualifying tournament hosted by Germany. This became known following the draw, which took place at the headquarters of the European Football Union (UEFA) in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Blue and Yellows will play the match against the Bosnians on the opponent's field. The date of the meeting is March 21 next year, and the start time will be determined later.

If the Ukrainians win, they will advance to the final of the "joints" where they will meet the winner of the other semifinal Israel - Iceland. This match will take place on March 26 and will be a home match for Serhiy Rebrov's team.

Ukraine's national team has played twice in head-to-head matches for European Championships. In the qualifiers for Euro 2000, the Blue and Yellows suffered their most painful defeat in history - against the Slovenes. And then took revenge on them in the playoffs for the 2016 UEFA European Championship. At the same time, our team has not missed a continental championship since 2012.

The Blue and Yellows met Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Then in Lviv, the teams drew 1-1, and in Zenica, the Ukrainians won 2-0 thanks to goals by Oleksandr Zinchenko and Artem Dovbyk.

It will be recalled that the Ukrainians made it to the playoffs of the 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers after failing to beat Italy in the decisive group stage match. At the same time, the referee did not award a penalty to the visitors for a foul on Mykhailo Mudryk.

Even the Azzurri's captain, Gianluigi Donnarumma, admitted that the defender had violated the rules. Social media reacted strongly to the episode, and the Italian media did not defend the referee. Russian journalists also agreed that Ukraine was condemned.
