Veronika Stepanova, the Beijing 2020 Olympic champion in the ski relay, is once again at the center of a scandal after a strange appeal to U.S. Vice President Jay DeVance. On her Telegram channel, the 24-year-old athlete unexpectedly invited the American politician to ski in Russia, promising to put him "on the right skis" in exchange for the "right IOC president."

"Jason Donaldovich! Really, why do you need to go skiing in Vermont, come to us, we'll put you on the right skis. And you give us the right IOC president in return," Stepanova wrote.

This statement caused a wave of ridicule among fans. Many reminded the skier of her own statements, where she sharply criticized the West and international competitions.

"Classic patriots: as soon as they lure you with sugar, the United States is no longer an enemy or leader of the damned West, but a reliable partner. A pathetic sight," one user wrote.

"Women usually become smarter after having a child, but here it's the other way around - she's already gotten to Vance," another commenter added, hinting that Stepanova had recently become a mother.

Some people even compared Stepanova's post to inadequacy: "For some reason, I remembered that there is a psychiatric hospital in St. Petersburg named after Skvortsov-Stepanov. It must not be a coincidence", "What a disgusting thing".

On Saturday, March 1, a protest against Vance was held in the American town of Westfield, Vermont. This town was chosen for the rally because the politician came there for a vacation.
