The Russian national team player refused to speak Russian after the match in Paris. Video
PSG's Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov chose French for his comments after the French football championship match with Toulouse. The match ended in a 1-0 victory for the Parisians, and Safonov, who started the game and did not concede, did not comment on the game in his native language.
"Yes, it was a tough win, but a very important one. This is Paris. For me, today was a calm match with few chances. However, it was hard to stay calm," he said in an interview with DAZN.
It is interesting that the goalkeeper refused to communicate in Russian, despite the fact that PSG has several Russian-speaking players. According to fans and experts, Safonov has learned French surprisingly quickly in a short time, and his knowledge is already being called the best among the club's foreign players.
The 25-year-old Krasnodar native said that his progress in learning French has not been an easy process as he has many matches and training sessions, but he continues to work on the language. "I try to practice French 2-3 times a week, but sometimes it's difficult - there are a lot of matches and not enough time," the goalkeeper said.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Safonov finally lost one of the alimony courts. Thus, the Russian national team footballer will be obliged to pay his ex-wife Anastasia 25% of his income every month for the maintenance of their daughter.
We would like to remind you that the Parisian club acquired the goalkeeper from Krasnodar for 20 million euros in June this year. Safonov became the most expensive goalkeeper in PSG's history.
