"The gap is growing". Former Ukrainian national football player, who is fighting in the Armed Forces, is shocked by what is happening in Kyiv

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Left Bank defender Taras Pinchuk has volunteered for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where he has been serving for three years. The 34-year-old former player of youth national teams of all ages compared what is happening at the front with peaceful life in other cities.

The former Dynamo player is amazed by the contrast he sees when he visits the capital of Ukraine.

"When you come to Kyiv, for example, you feel a little shocked that it is a completely different world. Yes, I understand that we need to live a civilian life, but everything is too relaxed and people don't care about what is happening at the front. Let them live and have a normal life. But there is a nuance: there is a war in Ukraine, and it cannot concern some people and not others," Tribuna.com quoted Pinchuk as saying.

Taras has the feeling that some people have to fight and support the army, while others can just live and wait until it's over, "because they are tired."

"I wish it was possible to snap your finger and be done. But it doesn't happen. This is not just my opinion – many people say so. That the war is supposedly somewhere else. But, God forbid, it could come back. I hope it won't, but people are very relaxed. The gap between the military and civilians is only growing," the footballer summarized.
