Boxer fails a doping test on the eve of the fight

The famous British super-heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) has failed a drug test, according to the Matchroom Boxing promotion company. His fight with former world champion Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs), which was scheduled to take place at the O2 Arena in London, has been cancelled.

"Today, the Voluntary Association for Drug Testing (VADA) informed Matchroom, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the British Boxing Board of Control that Dillian Whyte's anti-doping test has come back negative. Due to this news, the fight will be cancelled and a full investigation will be conducted. Additional information about the event will be available later," the promoters said on Twitter.

Well-known personalities in the world of British boxing admit in the comments below the news that they were shocked by what happened.

British pundit Chris McKenna said that Joshua agreed to replace his opponent, intending to take part in the main event anyway. The organisers are urgently looking for a new opponent for Anthony.

It will be recalled that because of Whyte, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk was unable to hold a fight for the world title in 2022, as the World Boxing Council (WBC) obliged Fury to fight Dillian.

Last April, Fury defeated Whyte by a devastating knockout and defended his championship title.
