The fight had to be urgently interrupted

Egyptian footballer Ahmed Refaat suffered a clinical death in the 16th round of the national championship. The 30-year-old winner of the U-20 African Cup of Nations and the 2017/2018 Egyptian Cup of Nations lost his heart in a 0-0 match against Al-Ittihad.

In the last seconds of the match, Refaat was alone in the center of the field without the ball. At some point, the striker's legs gave out and he collapsed on the stadium lawn.

The victim's partners immediately began to signal the judge about the incident.

Ahmed was rushed to the nearest hospital, Zamzam, where medical staff managed to restart the player's heart after an hour of resuscitation.

According to the team's statement, Refaat's condition is still unstable, which prevents him from being transported to another hospital.

"Until his health condition stabilizes, the player will continue to receive treatment and undergo the necessary tests at Zamzam. The club is constantly monitoring the situation and will keep the fans informed," writes kingfut.com.

Futbol called on the media to respect the player's privacy as well as his health.

"We would like to ask Egyptian football fans to pray for Ahmed Refaat to be alive and recover as soon as possible," the press service said in a statement.
