Svitolina beats Blinkova

Famous Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has made it to the fourth round of the French Open tennis championships - Roland Garros 2023. The 28-year-old from Odesa achieved this right in a match against Russian Anna Blinkova, whom our compatriot beat in three sets - 2:6, 6:2, 7:5.

The match lasted two hours and 17 minutes. During this time, Svitolina served five times, converted seven out of 12 break points and won 37 active games. Elina had eight double faults and 32 unforced errors. The Ukrainian's maximum serve speed was 178 km/h compared to her opponent's 195.

Traditionally, our compatriot did not shake hands with the representative of the aggressor country. The two tennis players exchanged a few words after thanking the referee for his work and went their separate ways.

Elina thus reached the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros 2023, where she will face another Russian player, Daria Kasatkina. The Russian top-ranked player was one of the few from the aggressor country to condemn the war in Ukraine. It should be noted that Svitolina has won all six matches against Daria in her career.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, American tennis player Lauren Davis refused to continue her match with Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko at Roland Garros 2023.
