Our compatriot in the first round of the competition in a crazy match defeated the Belarusian Victoria Azarenko, whom she refused to shake hands with after the game - 7:6, 6:4.

The match lasted 1 hour and 47 minutes, and its main feature was the incredible number of breakpoints. For two, the girls took the point 17 times on the other's serve, creating a real swing.

 

The Ukrainian served four times, realized 9 out of 11 break points and recorded five double faults. For Svitolina it is the second consecutive victory over Azarenko, and before that Elina lost all five matches to the Belarusian athlete.

After the match was over, the Ukrainian refused to shake hands with her opponent from the aggressor country. Victoria responded by showing a thumb to our tennis player and went to thank the referee on the tower.

In the second round of the tournament in Washington, Svitolina will face the best Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina.
