The draw for the main stage of the Champions League will take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Thursday, August 29. Ukraine will be represented in Europe's premier club tournament by Shakhtar Donetsk, which qualified for this round of the tournament thanks to the highest coefficient among the qualifiers and the victory of Real Madrid in the Spanish league.

Starting from the new season, the European Football Union (UEFA) has significantly changed the format of the Champions League. Currently, the number of participants has increased from 32 to 36, and the teams will not be divided into different groups. The results will be recorded in the general table, and the participants of the 1/8 finals (1-8 places) and head-to-head matches (9-24 places) will be determined based on the results of eight rounds.

Each team will play eight matches against eight different opponents - four each at home and away. Before the ceremony, the 36 participants will be divided into four baskets, and a computer will be used to determine the pairings, as a manual procedure would require 1000 balls.

"Shakhtar will be seeded from the second basket. This means that it will definitely not play against German Bayer Leverkusen, Spanish Atletico Madrid, Italian Atalanta, Juventus and Milan, Portuguese Benfica, Belgian Brugge and English Arsenal.
