Shakhtar sets Ukraine's historic achievement in the Champions League

Shakhtar Donetsk became the first Ukrainian team to win an away match in the Champions League, losing 0-2 in the course of the match. This happened in a match against Belgian Antwerp in the second round of the group stage of this season's tournament.

"Shakhtar was two goals down after the first half but managed to score three goals after the break thanks to a double by Danylo Sikan and an accurate free-kick by Yaroslav Rakitskiy. This is the second case of such a grand comeback in the history of Ukrainian football in the Champions League.

Dynamo Kyiv was the first club to come back from 0-2 down. However, it did so on its home field. In 1994, the capital's team won a legendary victory over Spartak Moscow at the crowded Olimpiyskiy Stadium. The game was turned around by Viktor Leonenko's double and Serhiy Rebrov's accurate shot four minutes before the final whistle.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainians have won twice more in the Europa League, both times in away matches. In 2005, Dnipro defeated Armenian Banants with a score of 4-2. In 2017, Dynamo defeated Serbian Partizan with a score of 3-2 in the same match scenario.
