"Shakhtar" scored a scandalous goal, remained in the minority and sensationally deprived of victory in the UPL. Video
Shakhtar Donetsk scored a goal against Veres in the UPL second round match with a direct free-kick without waiting for the referee's whistle. The moment happened at the end of the first half at Rivne's Avangard stadium.
Our compatriots were awarded a free-kick in the 46th minute. Mykola Matvienko did not wait for the opponents to put up a wall and for the head referee Oleksandr Shandor to signal that it was safe to shoot. The 27-year-old from Crimea "shot" cleverly, taking Veres by surprise.
That said, the replay shows that Shandor probably pointed to the whistle.
The home team rushed to prove to the referee that it was all unfair. The goal was scored anyway.
A few seconds later, Shakhtar remained in the minority. Orange-Blacks midfielder Artem Bondarenko received a red card for a direct kick to the opponent.
It should be noted that both moments were not broadcast live on TV.
Veres equalized the score with 1:1 in the second half.
After a high "candle" near Shakhtar's goal, Dmytro Riznyk failed to win a one-on-one battle with a defender. The latter made a shot with his head and Yevhen Shevchenko rolled the ball into the goal.
