Russia's unique champion figure skater was drafted into the army
18-year-old Moscow figure skater Hrihorii Fedorov has been drafted into the army, R-Sport reports. Currently, the athlete continues to train in Svetlana Sokolovskaia's group at CSKA.
Earlier, a list of athletes expelled from the CSKA Olympic Figure Skating Reserve School was published, including Fedorov.
Fedorov is the winner of the first-ever Russian figure skating championship. This season, he took third place at the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk and eighth in Kazan.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, last July, Russian national hockey team goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was detained in St. Petersburg by military enlistment officers on suspicion of evading the army.
After his military service, Fedotov signed a contract with CSKA Moscow, while having an existing agreement with Philadelphia.
It is assumed that the athlete was specially sent to the Russian Armed Forces to prevent him from joining an NHL club. At the same time, CSKA entered into a parallel agreement with Fedotov.
On August 23, it became known that CSKA decided to disobey the IIHF's decision to disqualify the Russian national team goalkeeper, disregarding international rules.
