Russian Olympic champion demands IOC apology for suspension from competition

Four-time Olympic champion Alexander Popov has demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) apologize to the Russians for their suspension from world sport. The former swimmer called it the main condition for the representatives of the aggressor country to think about their return to competition.

Popov said this in an interview with the Match TV propaganda channel. The winner of the Barcelona-92 and Atlanta-96 Games added that he was allegedly invited to some IOC events. He also spoke out against Russians competing at tournaments under a neutral flag.

"I will never change that position. Never in my life. Yeah, they want to perform and the guys want to live. Any questions? I don't participate in any IOC events, because I don't understand the position of this organization towards our country and Belarus. I have nothing to discuss with them, I've already sais this. The flag, full recognition and apologies, and then we'll start talking," Popov said.

Earlier, two-time Olympic champion in swimming (100m and 200m backstroke) Yevgeni Rylov, who was disqualified for participation in the Z-rally, decided to end his career at the age of 26.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, two-time Olympic swimming champion Denis Pankratov accused the IOC of hating Russians because of the conditions of admission to competition.
