Russian national soccer team found the "top opponent" who agreed to play

The Russian national football team will play its next friendly against the Cameroon national team. The match will take place on October 12 or 16, probably at the VTB Arena in Moscow, insider Ivan Karpov reports on his Telegram channel.
It will not be possible to play the match at the main arena of the capital, Luzhniki, as the lawn is scheduled to be replaced in October. There is also an option to play the match in St. Petersburg or somewhere in southern Russia.
Russian fans reacted enthusiastically to the news, noting that this African team can be called a top competitor in the current situation.
We would like to remind you that they had already tried to hold the Russia-Cameroon match in Moscow on June 15, but the Africans refused to come to the capital of the aggressor country at the last minute.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), suspended the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participating in FIFA and UEFA competitions after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
This year, Valery Karpov's team managed to play only four friendly matches against Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar. The Russians played against the Qataris on September 12, escaping humiliation in the last seconds.
The Russian national team played its last official match in the fall of 2021. The Russians lost to Croatia (0: 1) in the last round of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
