Fetisov speaks about the 2023 World Cup

Vyacheslav Fetisov, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, considers it unacceptable to broadcast the World Championship in Russia, which ended the day before in Riga and Tampere. The two-time Stanley Cup winner also called it a crime to even discuss the course and results of the tournament.

Fetisov said this in a haughty commentary to Sport-Express. He added that he considers this position to be a manifestation of respect for Russia, which was excluded from the world hockey championships after the Russian army's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"For me, there is no World Cup of Hockey. I think it's a crime to show it in our country and discuss its results. The topic is closed for me. It is a crime to discuss the World Championship. If you don't respect yourself, no one will respect you," Fetisov said.

Earlier, Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov called the 2023 World Cup the first court in the absence of Russia, and also spoke insultingly about Latvia.

A week ago, Russia's main propaganda channel, Match TV, stopped broadcasting Latvia's matches at the World Ice Hockey Championship, excluding both live broadcasts and replays. The reason for this was the behaviour of Latvian fans who stretched a banner with a Ukrainian flag and the words "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!"

OBOZREVATEL also reported that the 2023 World Cup champion was the Canadian national team, which defeated Germany, another sensation of the current World Cup, in the final match (5:2).
