Russian junior figure skating champion Dario Cirisano has decided to play for the Czech Republic. The 21-year-old has a Russian mother and an Italian father.

In 2020, Cirisano won the 2020 Youth Olympic Games together with Irina Khavronina. In January 2023, their duo broke up, after which the skater began training with Czech Denisa Cimlova in Montreal.

On May 18, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFSF) did not allow the figure skater to change his sporting citizenship.

"Cirisano did not receive approval (to change his sporting citizenship), like some other athletes. Some did, but Cirisano did not receive it in accordance with the rules of our federation and the quarantine," R-Sport quoted Alexander Kogan, CEO of the RFSF, as saying.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the famous Russian swimmer Anastasia Kirpichnikova has decided to play for the French national team. The 22-year-old native of Asbestos (Sverdlovsk region) has already requested a procedure to change her sports citizenship.

Kirpichnikova was one of the leaders of the Russian national swimming team.
